Men's tennis falls to IU-Southeast at home

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's tennis team began its home spring slate Saturday afternoon, falling in non-conference action to Indiana University-Southeast.

The Panthers fall to 2-4 overall with the loss, while the NAIA-Grenadiers improve to 4-7.

Junior Jonathan Helmers (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Connor Garrison (Louisville, Ky.) found the most success during doubles play, before falling 8-5 in the top slot. Freshmen Keith Asplund (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) dropped an 8-4 decision at No. 3.

Hanover scored three or more wins in just three of the 12 singles sets. Junior Landon Carrico (New Albany, Ind.) had the top performance, but fell in straight sets by a count of 7-5, 6-4.

The Panthers are now scheduled to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play in their next outing, as they will travel to face Anderson at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30.
