Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – Junior Landon Carrico (New Albany, Ind.) won the top singles match in straight sets to highlight the Hanover men's tennis team's performance at home against NCAA Division II Bellarmine Saturday afternoon.

A tough slate to start the spring continued for the Panthers at the Zeddies Tennis Center Saturday, as they fell 6-1 to the Knights (4-8). Hanover drops to 2-5 on the season with the loss.

Carrico recorded the lone team point for the Blue and Red, taking the No. 1 singles contest by a score of 6-1, 6-0. The junior was joined by classmate Jonathan Helmers (Cincinnati, Ohio) at No. 2 doubles in a 6-4 loss.

All three doubles matches were decided by a final count of 6-4. Freshmen Connor Garrison (Louisville, Ky.) and Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) competed in the top spot, while freshman Keith Asplund (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and sophomore Roger Trombley (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) appeared at No. 3 doubles.

Gallart and Asplund nearly added victories in the second and third singles spots, respectively, before falling in three sets. Gallart suffered a 4-6, 6-4, 0-6 setback at No. 2, while Asplund finished with a final tally of 6-4, 2-6, 3-6. Sophomore Jed Fajt (Greencastle, Ind.) won eight total games in his two-set match at No. 6.
