Men's lacrosse routs Anderson 17-3 for second conference win

ANDERSON, Ind. – Sophomore Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) and junior Noah King (Lexington, Ky.) combined for nine goals and six assists as the Hanover men's lacrosse team defeated Anderson on the road Wednesday evening, 17-3.

Kimmins tied a career-best with his team-high five goals, while also adding an assist. King logged a career-high nine points, finishing with four goals and five assists. The duo did all of its offensive damage in the first half.

The Panthers (7-4) finished with double-digit goals for the fourth time in the past five outings, all of which have resulted in victories. Hanover also picked up its second straight Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference win Wednesday evening, moving to 2-1 on the season.

Junior Patrick Boylston (Boca Raton, Fla.) recorded a career-high three goals, while freshman Chris Higgins (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up his first two collegiate points, both coming on second half assists. Scoring his first goal of the season was senior Tyler Kordesich (Walkerton, Ind.).

Adding two goals and one assist apiece were junior Dallas Fonner (Evansville, Ind.) and sophomore Jackson Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.). The duo also combined for nine groundballs. Fonner and freshman Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) tied for the team-lead in groundballs with five each. Meinhart pitched in with three assists as well.

The Blue and Red jumped out to an early 3-0 lead less than five minutes into play. Hanover led 6-0 after the first period behind two goals each from Boylston and King.

Second quarter scoring started with four consecutive extra-man goals for HC. Kimmins tallied three goals during the stretch. The sophomore also scored with one second remaining in the half, part of five goals in the final three minutes to put the Panthers in front 15-0 at the break.

Anderson (1-7, 0-3 HCLC) posted three second-half goals, one in the third quarter and two in the fourth frame. The Panthers received fourth quarter scoring from Kordesich and Wheeler at the 8:33 and 6:26 marks, respectively.

Overall, Hanover enjoyed a 48-15 advantage in shots, including a 29-7 edge on goal. The Panthers won 15-of-22 faceoff attempts as well, with senior Bret Schell (Dayton, Ohio) going 10-for-12. Junior Noah Dubrava (Centerville, Ohio) picked up his seventh win of the season, allowing no goals and making four saves in goal during the first half.

The Panthers will continue HCLC play on the road at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, with their second meeting of the season with Earlham.
