Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – Junior Landon Carrico (New Albany, Ind.) and sophomore Roger Trombley (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) each tallied singles victories at Earlham Wednesday evening in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for the Hanover men's tennis team.

The Panthers, competing for the first time in nearly two weeks due to weather, fall to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in HCAC play. The Quakers, who have now won five of their last seven outings, improve to 8-7 overall and 1-1 in league competition.

Carrico is now tied for the team-lead in singles victories, four, after taking the No. 2 slot Wednesday in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. Trombley also has four singles victories this season, as he won the No. 6 match by a final count of 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 11-9.

Earlham though, won the remaining four singles matches and swept the three doubles slots. Freshmen Keith Asplund (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) were the closest to picking up a doubles win, falling at No. 3, 8-6. Carrico and junior Jonathan Helmers (Cincinnati, Ohio) were victims of an 8-5 decision at No 2.

The Panthers will look to bounce back when they travel to face Oakland City (Ind.) in non-conference action this weekend. The match is slated for a noon start, Saturday, April 6.
