Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's soccer team netted two goals in the first half as the Tigers played the Panthers to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover (2-2-2 overall) picked up goals from sophomores Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) and Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.), their first of the 2019 campaign.
In frame, sophomore Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.) got the nod as she recorded a game-high 11 saves thorugh 110 minutes of work. Carmosino is currently tied for second among the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in saves with 35.
The Blue and Red made quick work on the pitch as sophomore Anna Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio) played a cross in the 4th minute of action that found Hughes for the score, 1-0.
In the 8th minute, the Panthers looked to strike again as Smith took a shot of her own that was saved by the Wittenberg keeper. However, Hanover would break down the Wittenberg defense once more as freshman Josie Dattilo (Montogomery, Ohio) served up a penalty kick to Day that pushed the HC lead to 2-0.
The Tigers responded moments later as they beat the Panther defense in the 35th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The game tying blow came in the final seconds of the contest as Wittenberg played a cross into the box that was deflected for a goal.
Neither team could find the golden goal in overtime as both teams placed shots on frame that were saved by the respective keeper.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, September 18 as they host Spalding. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
