Men's Lacrosse Drops Contest at Centre

HANOVER, Ind. - In the second outing of a four-game road slate to start the 2020 campaign, the Hanover men's lacrosse team fell to Centre (Ky.) by a tally of 12-2 on Wednesday evening.

The Panthers (1-1 overall) were able to hold their own in the faceoffs throughout the first half, as they won 8-of-12 in the first two frames, including five-of-six in the second quarter. However, the Colonels (1-1 overall) registered 22 shots in the first 30 minutes, while holding HC to just nine in the same timespan. Of these 22 shots, 11 came on goal, and by halftime Centre held a 10-0 lead.

The Blue and Red got on the board with 3:34 remaining in the third period, when junior Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) zipped a shot past Wills McCutcheon. Kimmins' goal was aided by a pass from senior Noah King (Lexington, Ky.), who recorded the Panthers' second score with 1:44 left in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, senior Andrew Trachtman (Carmel, Ind.) notched two caused turnovers, marking his second consecutive outing in which he has forced multiple errors. In addition, Trachtman corralled a trio of groundballs. In addition, freshman defender Bryce Nokes (Jeffersonville, Ind.) scooped up a pair of grounders and caused one turnover. Seniors Eric Clay (Wilmington, Del.) and Dallas Fonner (Evansville, Ind.) pace the Panthers with four groundballs apiece.

Overall, Hanover enjoyed an upper hand in faceoffs, winning 9-of-17 at the face-off "x." Additionally, they were head-to-head with the Colonels in grounders, grabbing 28 as opposed to 29 for Centre.

The Panthers will look to rebound when they travel to Concordia-Wisconsin, with action set for 4 p.m., Wednesday, February 26.
