Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman offense deemed too much for the Panthers as they fell at Rose-Hulman, 86-62.
Hanover was led in the contest by sophomore
Ty Houston (Union, Ky. / Cooper) with a team-high 13 points, including 3-for-4 from three-point. Teammate, freshman
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind. / University) chipped in nine points with seven rebounds for the Panthers.
A slow start doomed the Panthers as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-0 run that saw them fall behind 9-4 just minutes into the opening stanza. Hanover looked to rally as a Houston three-pointer cut the deficit to 12-10. He would later tie the contest for the Blue and Red as he hit a jumper at the 12:44 mark.
However, Rose-Hulman continued to dominate the offensive side of the floor as another short run propelled them in front 20-14 midway through the half. But the Panthers refused to go away as back-to-back scores by sophomore
Alex Westerbeck (Union, Ky. / St. Henry) and freshman
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind. / Southport) saw Hanover pull within 20-19 with just 9:34 remaining. But a late Rose-Hulman rally would see them claim the convincing 47-27 halftime advantage.
The Fightin' Engineers picked up where they left off in the second half pushing the difference to 54-29 before freshman
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind. / South Vermillion) delivered from long range to halt the surge. Houston also showed his range as he too connected from three-point to cut the deficit to 57-37 at the 15:34 mark.
The offensive explosion continued for Hanover as Gilman deemed clutch again with a jumper in the lane that Greenamyer followed up with a three-pointer at the 13:07 mark. However, the excitement didn't last long as a Rose-Hulman 10-0 run over the next six minutes secured the 86-62 home victory.
Hanover will return to action on Thursday, January 28, at 7:30 pm as they play host to Franklin College.
