DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Hanover women's soccer team extended their win streak on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Defiance 5-0.
With the win, Hanover moves to 11-0-2 overall and 6-0-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Panthers surged ahead early as freshman
Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) played a ball from junior
Ainsleigh Spaulding (Independence, Ky.) that found the back of the net in the 28
th minute for the 1-0 advantage.
The 32
nd minute saw Hanover tally another goal as senior
Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) scored off an assist from senior
Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio) that saw HC capture the 2-0 lead.
The Blue and Red entered the half with 19 shots, surrendering zero to the Yellow Jackets.
The Panthers made quick work on the pitch in the second half as they netted another goal in the 56
th minute as Rolfsen added her first strike pushing the difference to 3-0.
Moments later, senior
Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) was able to hammer home a ball inside the 18-yard box to give Hanover the convincing 4-0 lead.
The final goal came from senior
Molly Johnson (Newburgh, Ind.) to secure the convincing 5-0 victory.
HC finished the contest with 37 shots, 24 on frame.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20 traveling to Rose-Hulman. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
