Hanover defeats Rose-Hulman in straight sets

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers wrapped up regular season action on Saturday evening as they defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Rose-Hulman in straight sets 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-19).

With the win, Hanover finished the regular season at 16-9 overall 7-2 HCAC and will be the four seed in the upcoming HCAC tournament.

The opening set was paced by sophomore Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) who led a late Panther rally of seven points that saw them pull within 20-21 before taking the lead moments later off a junior Emma Harmon (Carmel, Ind.) kill. Hanover went on to seal the set as a senior Maddie Edwards (Jasper, Ind.) kill and a Dunn service ace secured the 30-28 win.

Set two would see Hanover chart a game best 17 kills for a .214 hitting percentage. Senior Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) and Harmon paced the set as they teamed up to spark a Panther 6-0 run that saw them claim the 10-7 advantage. Hanover continued on the attack as a Ketcham kill secured the victory.

The final set of the evening would see the Panthers run away early. Dunn paced the charge from behind the service line where she propelled HC to the 11-2 advantage. Ketcham handled the rest securing the straight set win for the Blue and Red.

Harmon led the Panthers with a team-high 11 kills, while Edwards added 10 total kills.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 3 when they take on no. 3 seed Anderson. First serve is slated for 7 PM.
