Men's Soccer stuns Transylvania to capture 4-0 victory

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's soccer team welcomed Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Transylvania on Wednesday afternoon in a key battle that saw them claim the 4-0 victory.

Hanover remained perfect in conference play moving to 3-0-0 and 7-3-1 overall.

The Panthers provided pressure early as they were able to control pace of play for much of the opening frame. Leading the charge was senior Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) with a great header that sailed just high of the cross bar.

The attack continued as freshman Charlie Hubert (Burlington, Ky.) dealt a header in the 22nd minute that missed wide right. However, with just nine minutes remaining in the stanza the flood gates opened as sophomore Simon Fewell (Louisville, Ky.) was able to find the back of the net.

The Panthers provided another goal seconds later as freshman Joao Domenici (Alphaville, Brazol) intercepted a pass and sent it to the far post for the 2-0 advantage.

The second half saw the Panthers deliver two more blows in similar fashion. Eppler provided the first strike as he took a pass from sophomore Simon Fewell (Louisville, Ky.) inside the 16-yard box to extend the difference to 3-0.

The final goal of the afternoon came off the foot of sophomore Scott Zehnder (Louisville, Ky.) who shot point blank following a pass from Domenici to stun the Pioneers 4-0.

The Blue and Red return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 when they play host to Manchester. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
