Preview: Football heads to Rose-Hulman for pivotal HCAC contest

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover football team gears up for a pivotal Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up at Rose-Hulman on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM.

HOW WE GOT HERE
The Panthers enter the contest at 2-2 overall after winning their HCAC opener against Anderson last weekend, 49-0. Hanover was paced in the contest by junior Devonte Hardiman (Princeton, Ind.) with six total tackles, including three solo. The junior added two sacks for a combined 12 yards and a forced fumble. Hanover combined for 527 total yards of offense, averaging 7.4 yards per play.

RECORDS ARE MEANT TO BROKEN
Senior Shawn Coane (Evansville, Ind.) continues to etch his name into the record books as he became the Hanover all-time rushing touchdown leader with 43. The senior entered homecoming weekend tied with former Panther Anthony Brantley who set the record of 41 in 1973-77.

THE MATCH-UP

The contest came down to the final seconds as the Panthers were able to drive 43-yards on seven plays to set-up a 29-yard field goal. Dating back to the 2010 season, Rose-Hulman holds the slim 6-5 margin with their last win coming in 2017 as they beat the Panthers 38-28.
