Women's Soccer advances to the HCAC Tournament Championship with victory over Rose-Hulman

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's soccer team advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship after knocking off no. 3 seed Rose-Hulman 2-1.

With the win, Hanover advances to the HCAC Championship taking on the winner of no. 5 Transylvania and no. 1 Mt. St. Joseph, a contest set to kick-off at 7:00 PM this evening.

The Panthers were paced by senior Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) and senior Kenzie DeLong (Fishers, Ind.) with one goal apiece.

Boothby provided the first strike as she played a fantastic cross from senior Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) that beat the Rose-Hulman keeper in the 9th minute for the 1-0 lead.

The Panthers provided what would become the game-winner moments later as DeLong played a through ball from junior Josie Dattilo (Montgomery, Ohio) that propelled HC to the 2-0 advantage.

Hanover finished the opening frame with a slight disadvantage in shots at eight but all eight landed on frame.

The Fightin' Engineers got down and gritty in the second half as they controlled play for much of the late stages when Hicks took a pass from Lawrence to cut the deficit to 1-0.

However, Hanover was able to stifle the attack and capture the Tournament advancing 2-1 victory.
