CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Hanover Panthers hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon falling to the Lions of Mt. St. Joseph, 23-6.
Hanover was paced in the contest by senior
Jared Frank (Louisville, Ky.) with two receptions for 78-yards and a touchdown.
The opening frame saw a slow start as both defenses stepped up big holding each other scoreless through 15 minutes of action. However, the Lions would draw first blood just minutes into the second quarter as they were able to connect on a 21-yard field goal for the 3-0 advantage.
Hanover looked to respond later in the stanza as senior
Matthew Weimer (Gerogetown, Ind.) piloted the offense inside the MSJ 30-yard line before the Lions forced a turnover on downs.
The Mount got the final say of the opening half as they tallied the game's first touchdown with seconds remaining to capture the 10-0 halftime lead.
The second half saw the Panthers record their lone score of the afternoon as Weimer connected with Frank for a 70-yard hookup on a third six that resulted in a Hanover touchdown, 16-6. The play capped a three play 74-yard drive.
Mt. St. Joseph delt the final blow in the fourth quarter en route to the HCAC victory, 23-6.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 13 when they welcome Franklin for the playing of the 91
st Victory Bell Game. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 PM.
