HANOVER, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman offense deemed to much as they used outstanding shooting to sink the Panthers in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening inside Collier Arena. Hanover fell in the contest 74-53.
The Blue and Red move to 4-4 overall and 1-2 HCAC.
Rose-Hulman used hot shooting to open the contest as they soared to the 19-10 first quarter lead when the Panther pressure began to set in. Hanover was able to force a pair of turnovers early in the second frame that led to a sophomore
Skylar Sahatjian (Prospect, Ky.) layup followed be a pair of sophomore
Reese Sexton (Louisville, Ky.) free throws that pulled HC within 23-12.
However, the Rose-Hulman offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they claimed their largest lead to date at the 2:57 mark, 39-22. The Fightin' Engineers finished the half shooting 57.6 percent from the field en route to the 43-28 advantage.
The second half would see the Fightin' Engineers extend their lead following a double digit run that was halted by a layup from junior
Keaton Chastain (Paoli, Ind.). The Panthers continued to climb the mountain as junior
Anna Bauer (Indianapolis, Ind.) connected late in the frame to pull HC within 63-40.
The final quarter would see a pair of Panther back-to-back blows force a Rose-Hulman timeout at the 8:13 mark with Hanover trailing 63-43. The timeout appeared affective as Rose-Hulman secured the 74-53 HCAC victory.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 18 when they travel to Anderson. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.
