Box Score OLIVET, Mich. – The Hanover Panthers wrapped up their trip north with a non-conference contest at Olivet. Hanover fell in the match-up 91-87 moving to 7-2 overall on the season.
Pacing the Blue and Red was sophomore
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-high 19 points, while teammates junior
Ty Houston turned in 15 points and sophomore
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) netted 14 points.
The Panther offense got a slow start before Munoz netted back-to-back blows that sparked the Hanover attack. The Blue and Red offense continued to battle as they captured their first lead at the 12:13 mark following eight straight Panther points by Greenamoyer, 20-17.
However, Olivet weathered the storm and was able to steal some momentum entering the break with the 42-36 advantage.
Senior
Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) paced the Panthers in the second half as his quest for 1,000 career points loomed closer following a pair of free throws that cut the difference 44-42. Hanover knotted the score before another clutch three-pointer gave Olivet the 52-49 edge with just 13:55 to play.
The Comets soared as they push the difference to as many as 16 points. Hanover attempted a late rally as Greenamoyer connected for a transition three-pointer that pulled HC within 87-85 with just 17 seconds remaining. The contest would come down to the wire as Olivet used impressive free throw shooting to secure the win.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, January 5 when they return to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action welcoming Mt. St. Joseph. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
