HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers celebrated Senior Day Saturday afternoon with Rose-Hulman, recognizing lone senior
Amber Miller (Louisville, Ky.). Hanover made it a special day for the senior as they dominated the Fightin' Engineers in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-21).
Leading the charge for the Blue and Red was sophomore
Adrianne Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.) with a game-high 13 kills. Sophomore
Emma Harmon (Carmel, Ind.) chipped in nine kills, while junior
Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) added a game-high 27 assists.
The opening set saw the two team's exchange points for several serves when a Harmon kill sparked a short Panther run that propelled them in front 14-11. However, Rose responded knotting the set at 21-21 when Vance went to work. The sophomore helped secure the early set victory from behind the service line that played a key role in the final four points of the set.
Set two would see the Panthers jump out to the 7-2 lead after recording the first three points. The momentum carried through out as back-to-back kills by Harmon and junior
Emma McPeek (North Vernon, Ind.) saw Hanover take the 9-4 advantage. They would go on to win the set off a Ketcham kill, 25-17.
The final stanza of the afternoon would see Rose-Hulman surge ahead early when back-to-back kills by junior
Maddie Edwards (Jasper, Ind.) tied the set at 5-5. The Panthers built on the success as Vance delivered back-to-back blows that extended the difference to 14-8. Rolf secured the straight set victory from behind the service line as she connected for the final blow.
Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, February 16 when they travel to Franklin. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
