Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover men's basketball wrapped up the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a road trip to Anderson. The Panther claimed the contest 70-65. They finished the season with a 7-4 overall mark.
The Panthers had three players finish in double-figures led by senior
Mark Albers with a team-high 17 points, while junior
Noah Williams (Jeffersonville, Ind.) added 13 points and freshman
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) chipped in 10 points.
The opening half saw Anderson claim the early lead when Albers went to work connecting for back-to-back scores that propelled the Panthers out in front 11-9 with 13:51 to play. However, the back-and-forth battle continued as Anderson flip the script taking the slim lead. But the Blue and Red had other things in mind as a 10-0 run capped off by a senior
Connor Washburn (Indianapolis, Ind.) layup saw Hanover take the 30-22 advantage. Albers provided the final dagger of the half as the Panthers entered the break with the 36-30 lead.
The second half would see Anderson tie the contest with 14:19 remaining when Munoz connected from three-point to pace a Hanover 9-0 run that pushed the difference to 51-42. The Panthers continued to fire on all cylinders as a Williams layup with 8:52 to play gave HC the 56-47 lead.
However, Anderson refused to give up as they were able to rally and reclaim the slim 64-63 advantage with just over two minutes remaining. Sophomore
Ty Houston (union, Ky.) delt clutch down the stretch sinking a pair of free throws to secure the regular season victory.
Hanover returns to action on March 3 when they compete as part of the HCAC Tournament. The Panthers will take on the Yellow Jackets of Defiance.
