CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Hanover men's tennis team swept Wabash on Saturday afternoon, taking match one 6-3 before taking match two 7-2.
In the opening match, Hanover claimed victories at number one doubles and number three doubles. The team of freshman
Rodolfo Jacome (Guayas, Ecuador) and freshman
Joey Keal (Louisville, Ky.) claimed one doubles by a score of 8-5, while the duo of junior
Connor Garrison (Louisville, Ky.) and senior
Roger Trombley (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) took three doubles 8-2.
The success carried into singles action as junior
Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) claimed one singles 6-4, 6-0. Keal claimed his match 6-4, 7-5, while Jacome took three singles 6-0, 6-0. Teammate, Asplund won four singles 6-0, 6-4 and Garrison won number six singles 6-1, 6-1.
In match two, the Panthers swept doubles play to claim the 3-0 advantage. Asplund continued his dominate afternoon as he won his singles match 6-3, 7-5. Freshman
Brandon Clunie (Niota, Tenn.) won number three singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-3, while teammate freshman
Luke Stonner (Indianapolis, Ind.) won number five singles 6-2, 6-3.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, March 7 when they play host to Indiana-Southeast.
