Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's tennis team welcomed Ind.-Southeast to campus on Sunday afternoon for an exhibition contest that saw them drop a tough 7-2 match.
The Panthers were led in doubles play by the no. 2 team of freshman
Joey Keal (Louisville, Ky.) and junior
Keith Asplund (Jeffersonville, Ind.). The duo claimed Hanover's first victory of the afternoon as they defeated their opponents 8-5.
No. 1 doubles saw a hard-fought battle as the team of freshman
Rodolfo Jacome (Guayas, Ecuador) and junior
Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) dropped the competitive match, 8-6. Senior
Roger Trombley (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) and junior
Connor Garrison (Louisville, Ky.) faced similar results as they too dropped a heart-breaker 8-6.
Jacome dominated singles action for the Blue and Red as he claimed the teams only victory by score of 6-4, 6-2. However, his teammates didn't go down without a fight as Keal played his no. 2 singles match to a third set. He dropped set one 7-6 (7-1), before tying the set 6-1. He would ultimately fall in the third set 7-5.
In no. 1 singles, Gallart registered a strong showing dropping set one 6-3 before falling in a tight set two 7-5.
Hanover returns to action on March 24 when they welcome Bethel College. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
