HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's soccer team remained perfect at home as they knocked off Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Defiance on Sunday afternoon, 3-0. With the win, the Blue and Red move to 3-1 overall on the year.
Hanover saw three different players record goals in the contest, senior
Brad Simpson (Allen, Texas), freshmen
Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.), and
Dawt Thang (Indianapolis, Ind.) all netted one goal apiece.
In frame, senior
Will Bedel (Walton, Ky.) recorded the win as he tallied four saves through 86 minutes of work.
Simpson struck first for the Panthers at the 10:54 mark as he received a pass from junior
Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) for the go-ahead goal, 1-0. Hanover entered the intermission with the lead on a game-high 12 shots.
The second half would see Ochsner push the difference to 2-0 very early as he was able to beat the Yellow Jacket defensemen for another Panther strike.
The final blow of the afternoon came from Thang as he dribbled through the Defiance backline beating the keeper for the 3-0 victory.
Hanover finished the contest with a game-high 19 shots with 11 landing on frame.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, March 16 when they welcome Franklin. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
