HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers scored early and often as they defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin on Tuesday afternoon, 6-0. With the victory, Hanover improves to 4-1-0 overall on the year.
The Blue and Red were led by junior
Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) and senior
Josh Hughes (Lafayette, La.) with two goals apiece. Junior
Evan Redmon (Louisville, Ky.) and junior
Fellipe Busato (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished the afternoon with one goal each.
Hanover wasted little time delivering the first blow as Hughes raced past the Franklin defensemen for the 1-0 score just 2 minutes into the opening stanza. He would provide a helper in the Panthers next score as he found Redmon who pushed the difference to 2-0.
Hughes' hot day continued as he received a pass from Redmon that found the back of the net at the 7:44 mark, 3-0. The final goal of the opening half came from Busato who took a through ball from freshman
Scott Zehnder (Louisville, Ky.) for the score.
The second half saw Eppler make his way into the scorer's column as he netted his first goal of the 2021 spring season just moments into the period, 5-0. He would go on to deliver the final blow of the contest at the 62-minute mark that propelled HC to the 6-0 win.
The Panthers pelted the net, recording a game-high 21 shots, with 12 landing on frame. In goal, senior
