Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hanover men's lacrosse team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening as they defeated the Quakers of Earlham in convincing fashion, 7-1.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) with one goal and an assist.
The Panthers scored early and often as sophomore
Michael Schaeper (Cincinnati, Ohio) found the back of the net off an assist from Kimmins with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening stanza for the 1-0 lead.
Kimmins delivered his first goal of the afternoon moments later before teammate freshman
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) closed out the period with another Panther blow, 3-0.
The second quarter saw goals from freshman
Luke Kowalka (Kalispell, MT.) and freshman
Cole Finley (Louisa, Va.) who pushed the difference to 5-0 in favor of Hanover.
Hanover entered the half with a game-high 21 shots.
Senior
Eric Hopkins (Evansville, Ind.) charted a goal in the third period with 3:48 to play extending the advantage to 6-0. Earlham finally found a goal in the early minutes of the fourth quarter before senior
Jackson Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.) dealt the final blow en route to the 7-1 victory.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 3 when they take on Elmhurst. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
