Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – Junior
Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) wasted little time finding the back of the net as the Panthers defeated Transylvania 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. With the win, Hanover improved to 3-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 in HCAC action.
The Panthers were paced by Hughes, freshman
Jostin Reeves (Greenwood, Ind.) and junior
Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) all with one goal apiece. As a unit, Hanover registered a game-high 16 shots with 11 landing on frame.
The opening period saw Hanover dominate play as they were able to get pressure on the Pioneer backline finding the back of the net just three minutes into the contest. Hughes delivered the blow as she beat the Transylvania keeper for the go-ahead goal, 1-0.
Hanover would get another chance at the 13 minute mark as Hughes sent a shot on frame that was saved by the Pioneer keeper. The Panther attack refused to let up as a corner kick with four minutes remaining landed at the feet of junior
Molly Johnson (Newburgh, Ind.) who missed just wide.
Reeves netted the first goal of the second half as she played a deflected ball off the Pioneer keeper at the 51 minute mark that propelled the Panthers in front 2-0.
The second half outburst continued for the Blue and Red as junior
Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) found Day across the middle of the box for the final Panther strike, 3-0.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, March 17 as they travel to Franklin. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
