HANOVER, IND. – The Hanover women's soccer team claimed the 2021 Spring Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title on Sunday afternoon as the defeated Rose-Hulman, 3-0.
The Panthers capture their first title since the 2016 campaign that saw them defeat Franklin.
The Blue and Red were paced on the afternoon by tournament MVP sophomore
Josie Dattilo (Montgomery, Ohio). Freshman
Jostin Reeves (Greenwood, Ind.), junior
Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio), and freshman
Bri Matis (Liberty Twp., Ohio) tacked on one goal apiece. Freshman
Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) picked up the win in frame as she started the contest playing 45 minutes with four saves.
Hanover netted the go-ahead goal early into the opening half as Reeves beat the Rose-Hulman keeper for the 1-0 strike.
The Blue and Red continued to control play as junior
Maggie Day (Sellersbueg, Ind.) played a tough through ball in the 60
th minute that got behind the Fightin' Engineer backline for the Boothby goal, 2-0.
The Panthers entered the half leading the attack efforts with nine shots, four of which landed on frame.
The second half would see Matis provide the final in the 72
nd minute as she charted her fourth goal of the season en route to the 3-0 HCAC Championship victory.
Hanover concluded the 2021 spring season at a perfect 9-0 overall and 8-0 in HCAC action.
