Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover men's tennis team dominated play on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Anderson in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action 9-0.
Hanover opened the afternoon sweeping doubles action for the early 3-0 advantage. The no. 1 doubles team of junior
Pablo Gallart (Serra, Spain) and junior
Keith Asplund (Jeffersonville, Ind.) won their match 8-2, before the team of freshman Joel Keal (Louisville, Ky.) and junior
Connor Garrison (Louisville, Ky.) claimed no. 2 doubles 8-4.
Senior
Jed Fajt (Greencastle, Ind.) and senior
Roger Trombley (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) played a competitive match at no. 3 doubles that ultimately saw the Panthers reign victorious 8-7 (7-3).
The momentum carried into singles play as Gallart took no. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Teammate, Keal picked up his second win of the afternoon at no. 2 singles where he defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0.
The singles domination continued as Asplund won no. 3 singles 6-3, 6-1 before Trombley went on to claim his match in a tie breaker set 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The final two points of the match came from Garrison at no. 5 singles winning 6-1, 6-2 and Fajt capturing the final point 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13-11).
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, April 18 as they welcome Rose-Hulman. Frist serve is slated for 12:00 PM.
