Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover men's lacrosse team used a first half surge to dominate the Ravens of Anderson 13-5 on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Eric Hopkins (Evansville, Ind.) with a game-high four goals, while teammate senior
Jackson Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.) added three goals.
The opening period saw the Panthers surge ahead early as senior
Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) found the back of the net just four minutes into the contest for the 1-0 lead.
The offensive explosion continued as Hopkins pushed the difference to 2-0 before Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.) delivered back-to-back blows giving HC the 4-0 advantage.
Anderson looked to battle back midway through the second period as they cut the deficit to 4-1. However, Wheeler completed the first half hat trick with just seven seconds remaining as he gave Hanover the 5-1 lead at the break.
The Panthers charted a first half best 22 shots with 14 landing on frame.
The Ravens pulled within 5-3 before sophomore
Eli Jeffries (Evansville, Ind.) netted a goal with 8:28 to play in the third quarter to extend the difference. Kimmins found the back of the net for his second strike of the afternoon on a man-up opportunity before sophomore
Bryce Nokes (Jeffersonville, Ind.) pushed the lead to 8-3.
Hopkins blew the game wide open with 3:19 remaining in the third period propelling HC out in front 9-3.
Hopkins provided the final blow of the third period as he took a pass from freshman
Cole Finley (Louisa, Va.) that saw HC capture the 10-4 difference.
Freshman
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) propelled the Panthers to the 11-4 advantage before Hopkins provided another goal when sophomore
Michael Schaeper (Cincinnati, Ohio) netted the final strike en route to the victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they welcome Transylvania to Alumni Stadium. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
