HAMILTON, Ohio – The Hanover Baseball team dropped a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Mount St. Joseph. Dropping game one 5-2 before falling in the night cap 5-3.
GAME ONE
The Lions jumped ahead early as they plated two runs in the bottom of the second inning for the 2-0 advantage.
However, Hanover responded in the fourth inning as freshman
Gabe Gowens (Lanesville, Ind.) singled through the left side scoring freshman
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) to pull HC within 2-1. MSJ would get the run back in the next half inning as they pushed the difference to 3-1.
The Panthers final run of the contest came in the top of the fifth inning as freshman
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) singled to left field, scoring senior
Zeke Porta (Louisville, Ky.). The Lions tacked on the final two runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to the HCAC victory, 5-2.
GAME TWO
The Panthers wasted little time getting on the board in the night cap as Christie singled down the right field line scoring junior
Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.) in the top of the first inning, 1-0.
MSJ responded at the dish in the bottom of the fourth inning as they plated three runs to capture the 3-1 advantage. The next half inning saw the Blue and Red cut the deficit to 3-2 as Porta hit a sacrifice fly that scored Gowens.
The Panthers final run of the afternoon came in the bottom of the sixth inning as Christie hit a solo homerun to left field. MSJ tacked on one final run to capture the 5-3 victory in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they welcome Franklin. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
