Preview: Panthers gear up for 90th annual Victory Bell match-up at Franklin

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover football team hits the road this weekend for the playing of the 90th annual Victory Bell Game hosted by Franklin College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
 
Visiting fans and general public fans are not permitted to attend HCAC contest this season.
 
VICTORY BELL

- Hanover currently holds the slim 44-42-3 margin over the Grizzlies, including back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2019.
- The Panthers hold the longest winning streak, 14, lasting from 1942-1958.
- Franklin won 13 straight meetings until the 2018 season, extending a program record for most consecutive wins in the series.
 
STEURER BREAKING RECORDS
- Senior, kicker, Austin Steurer (Warsaw, Ky.) became the all-time kicking points leader with 178 career points.
- For his efforts, he was named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week and named a member of the D3football.com Team of the Week.
 
BIG VICTORY
- Hanover returns to the turf after defeating Rose-Hulman 27-24 in dramatic fashion.
- Steurer delivered the game-winning blow as he hit a 29-yard field goal with 13 seconds remaining to propel the Panthers to victory.
- Junior Matthew Weimer (Georgetown, Ind.) led the offense with a game-high 284-yards through the air and a touchdown.
- Senior, running back, Walt Ballinger (Beech Grove, Ind.) paced the ground game collecting 116-yards on 34 carries with a touchdown.
 
SCOUTING FRANKLIN
- The Grizzlies enter the contest at 3-2 overall after falling to Rose-Hulman 34-14.
- Dane Andrews paced the attack for Franklin with 241-yards through the air and a touchdown.
 
LAST MEETING
- The Panthers claimed the last Victory Bell match-up, defeating Franklin 27-21 at home.
- Senior Shawn Coane (Evansville, Ind.) led the ground game for the Blue and Red rushing for 113-yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.
- Defensively, sophomore Devonte Hardiman (Princeton, Ind.) brought the hammer charting 12 total tackles, eight solo, with three sacks.
