HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's tennis team picked up a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on senior day as they defeated Manchester 9-0.
The Panthers swept the final regular season match of the year as they opened with a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles play. Freshman
Rachel Pinnick (Franklin, Ind.) and freshman
Isabelle Roberts (Brownsburg, Ind.) won a hard-fought no. 1 doubles match 8-7.
In no. 2 doubles, the team of junior
Maddie Shannon (Anderson, Ind.) and freshman
Melaina Tippery (Loogootee, Ind.) won 8-1 before senior
Regin Dean (Madison, Ind.) and junior
Cassie Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) completed the doubles sweep 8-0.
Shannon carried the momentum into singles play where she won no. 1 singles 4-6, 6-1, 10-2.
At no. 2 singles, Tippery won the match 6-1, 6-3 while teammate Pinnick won her no. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1.
Roberts claimed a convincing victory at no. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 while Dean captured the final victory of the contest at no. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Junior
Sidney Goedeker (Charlestown, Ind.) would go on to win by retirement.
