LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover men's lacrosse team competed as part of the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference Championship hosted by Transylvania on Saturday afternoon, dropping the contest 25-6.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) with a team-high three goals and an assist.
The Pioneers surged ahead to the 4-0 lead early when Kimmins took a pass from senior
Jackson Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.) to halt the charge.
Freshman
Nick Duran (Albuquerque, NM) provided the final Panther dagger in the opening stanza as he found the back of the net with 7:13 remaining to pull HC within 6-2.
However, Transylvania continued the attack as they rattled off nine straight goals to expand the difference to 15-2.
Wheeler made his way into the score's column with 12:37 to play in the third frame before senior
Eric Hopkins (Evansville, Ind.) and Kimmins netted back-to-back blows, 21-5.
Kimmins provided the Panthers final blow in the fourth period as Transylvania secured the HCLC Championship victory by a score of 25-6.
Hanover wrapped up the year at 8-5 overall and 6-1 in HCLC action.
