RICHMOND, Ind. – Hanover opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Earlham 4-0. With the win, Hanover moves to 5-3-1 overall, 1-0-0 in HCAC action.
The Panthers were led by senior
Josh Hughes (Lafayette, La.) with a game-high two goals. Senior
Fernando Martin (Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, Brazil) and junior
Keegan Marx (Evansville, Ind.) also added one goal apiece.
Martin dealt the first goal for the Panthers in the 8
th minute as he took a pass from sophomore
Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) to send HC out front 1-0.
Seconds later, Hughes made his way into the scores column as he beat the Quaker backline to extend the lead to 2-0.
The final goal of the first half came from Marx who connected with Ochsner for the convincing 3-0 advantage.
The last strike came in the 49
th minute as Hughes added his second dagger en route to the 4-0 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 3 when they take on Bluffton.
