HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers welcomed non-conference foe Otterbein on Sunday evening to the Soccer Complex, dropping the match 4-1.
Hanover was led on the pitch by senior
Josh Hughes (Lafayette, La.) with the Panthers lone goal. The senior added two shots, while teammate freshman Rafael Siqueria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) added two saves on 10 shots faced.
Otterbein provided the first blow of the contest as they were able to find the back of the net in the 23
rd minute before extending it to 2-0 moments later.
However, Hanover would respond in the second half as Hughes connected for a penalty kick following a Cardinal miscue in the 46
th minute to cut the difference to 2-1.
Despite the strong defensive showing by the Blue and Red the Cardinals were able to find the back of the net once more extending the lead to 3-1.
The final blow of the evening came in the 65
th minute as Otterbein secured the 4-1 non-conference victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 8 when they take on Berea College. Game time is set for 6 PM.
