LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover men's basketball team scored early and often en route to the 74-62 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at Transylvania on Wednesday evening.
Hanover was paced in the contest by senior
Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) with a balanced score sheet. The senior netted 16 points, dished out seven assists, pulled in five rebounds, and added four steals.
The Panthers came storming onto the floor on Wednesday evening using a 15-0 run paced by sophomore
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville ,Ind.) to surge ahead 17-1. They continued to fire on all cylinders as senior
Noah Williams (Jeffersonville, Ind.) found Greenamoyer for another Panther dagger.
The Pioneers tried to halt the charge but fell unsuccessful as Hibbard showed his range with a three-pointer that pushed HC on top 35-19. The Blue and Red entered the intermission with the strong 40-26 lead paced by Greenamoyer with 12 first half points.
The second half got a slow start as neither team was able to find a score when Hibbard deemed clutch at the 16:11 mark. But the Pioneers slowly chipped at the lead using a series of short outburst to pull within 47-37. However, Hibbard once again delivered in the paint with just over two minutes remaining to send HC on top 63-51. Junior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) handled the rest netting 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds for the HCAC victory.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, January 22 when they travel to Bluffton. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
