Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers got the revenge they were seeking on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action dominating the Defiance College Yellow Jackets, capturing their largest margin of victory this season 70-34.
With the win, Hanover moves to 15-2 overall and 11-1 HCAC and remain the top seed among the league.
Hanover saw three players finish in double figures, paced by junior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) with a game-high 15 points, while sophomore
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 13 points and senior
Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) scored 12 points.
In what quickly turned into a fast pace opening half proved beneficial for the Panthers as an 8-0 run pushed them in front 10-3 at the first media timeout. They continued to excel behind an impressive shooting performance by Houston who extended the difference to 21-7 with just under 10 minutes to play.
The three pointers continued to fall late into the frame with sophomore
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) connecting from long-range sending Hanover out front 24-11. The Panthers entered the break with the convincing 41-19 lead paced by Houston and Hibbard.
Defiance looked to get something started in the second half as they cut the difference to 43-23 before tenacious post play by Munoz halted the surge. The Panther offense fired on all cylinders as back-to-back layups by Greenamoyer gave Hanover its largest lead to date 51-24 with just over 10 minutes to play.
The Panthers never looked back as they defeated the Yellow Jackets in impressive fashion, 70-34.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 2 when they travel to Anderson for a key HCAC match-up. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
