Hanover defeats Earlham in HCAC action

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hanover men's basketball team picked up a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Quakers 58-47. With the victory Hanover moves to 9-2 overall and 5-1 HCAC.

Hanover was led in the contest by Junior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) with a game-high 19 points and four steals. Teammate's sophomore Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 14 points, while sophomore Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) chipped in 11 points.

The opening frame saw the Panthers apply significant defensive pressure as they used a full court press to capture the 18-9 lead at the 11-minute mark.

However, Earlham remained poise navigating the press to cut the deficit to 26-22 with 4:00 minutes remaining before Hanover shut it down using a 7-0 run, led by sophomore Ryan Morris (McCordsville, Ind.), to claim the 33-22 halftime lead.

The Quakers made a push in the second half slowly cutting the deficit to as little as 40-38 before Greenamoyer delivered at the 10-minute mark with a shot from deep.

The Blue and Red offense continued to surge as Greenamoyer connected for another three-pointer before a Houston layup gave HC the 49-42 advantage at the 3:42 minute mark. Hanover never looked back securing the 58-47 HCAC victory.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, January 12 when they welcome area rival Franklin. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
