HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers advanced in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon defeating rival Franklin, 5-0.
The Panthers jumped out to the 3-0 advantage after sweeping doubles action in dominate fashion. At no. 1 doubles the team of junior
Isabelle Roberts (Brownsburg, Ind.) and junior
Melaina Tippery (Loogootee, Ind.) won 8-2.
In no. 2 doubles, the pair of junior Raachel Pinnick (Franklin, Ind.) and sophomore
Lauren Hale (Crawfordsville, Ind.) won 8-4 before sophomore
Lyla Waskom (Scottsburg, Ind.) and freshman
Hailey Vandeventer (Bloomington, Ind.) claimed no. 3 singles 8-5.
The momentum carried into singles play with Pinnick picking up a win at no. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0.
The match securing victory came at no. 6 singles as Hale won matchup 6-1, 6-0.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they take on Transylvania. First serve is slated for 10:00 AM at the Top Seed Racquet Club.
