HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover put on a scoring clinic as they defeated Mt. St. Joseph 6-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue and Red fired a game-high 24 shots with 14 landing on frame.
Junior
Scott Zehnder (Louisville, Ky.) put the Panthers on the board early in the first half as he played a through ball from sophomore
Joao Domenici (Alphaville, Brazil) in the 9
th minute for the 1-0 advantage.
Hanover continued to attack the net as junior
Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) played a low ball off a corner kick that found senior
Coghlin Kumler (Indianapolis, Ind.) for the goal in the 18
th minute, 2-0.
Senior
Tommy Burns (Lafayette, La.) made his way into the scores column as he cleaned up a saved ball by the Lion keeper, 3-0.
The fourth strike came on an own goal as junior
Joel Yann (Louisville, Ky.) fired a shot that deflected off a Mt. St. Joseph defenseman sending them to the commanding 4-0 lead.
The final first half strike came from the foot of freshman
Matt Burchett (Prestonsburg, Ky.) following an assist by freshman
Omar Dizdar (Bardstown, Ky.) for the 5-0 halftime advantage.
The second half would see another strike come after freshman
David Snowden (Goshen, Ky.) drew a penalty kick and delivered, 6-0.
Freshman
Jose Perez (Fairview, Tenn.) netted the game's final goal off an assist from sophomore
Bryce Mayden (Sellersburg, Ind.), 7-0.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when they welcome Bluffton. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
