HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's soccer team advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the no. 4 seeded Mt. St. Joseph Lions, 2-0.
Hanover dominated possession firing a game-high 24 shots with 12 landing on frame.
Nora Ludwig led the attack with a game-high seven shots and one goal.
The Panthers monopolized the ball from the opening kickoff as they surged onto the scoreboard just three minutes into the contest. Junior
Callen Johnson (Ashland, Ky.) collected the goal following an assist by sophomore
Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) and junior
Cassidy Lett (Walton, Ky.), 1-0.
Hanover continued to apply pressure as senior
Josie Dattilo (Montgomery, Ohio) and Ludwig picked up back-to-back shots in the 20
th minute that fell at the hands of the Lion keeper.
Junior
Kennedi Roehrig (LaGrange, Ky.) charted the Panthers final first half look in the 32
nd minute as the Blue and Red went on to outshoot the Lions 13-6 in the opening frame.
The second half saw Ludwig connect on a goal as she broke away following a pass from Johnson delivering HC's final goal in the 58
th minute.
Junior
Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) picked up the win in frame making nine saves as Hanover advanced to the HCAC Tournament Finals. The Panthers will play host to the winner of no. 2 seed Rose-Hulman and no. 3 seed Anderson on Saturday, Nov. 5.
