Volleyball concludes season in HCAC Tournament at Rose-Hulman

Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Panthers bowed out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening, falling in straight sets at Rose-Hulman, 3-0 (13-25, 26-28, 14-25).

The opening set saw HC on the wrong side of an 11-3 deficit when freshman Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) landed a kill that halted the surge. However, Rose-Hulman continued to rally using a 5-0 run to blow the set wide open en route to the 25-13 win.

Hanover refused to roll over surging ahead in set two as Junior Aubrey Walton (Linton, Ind.) led the rally from behind the service line forcing a Rose-Hulman timeout, 9-5. The Fightin' Engineers responded knotting the set at 12-12 after charting back-to-back kills. Freshman Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) denied Rose-Hulman as she landed a kill the pushed HC back on top, 16-14. Hanover would go on to claim a 25-24 lead after a kill by freshman CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) but it wasn't enough with RH pushing ahead 28-26.

The final set of the evening, once again found HC on the wrong side of an early rally when a Mays kill pulled Hanover within 8-7. But the excitement didn't last long as Rose-Hulman spoiled the party securing the straight set win, 25-14.

Hanover wrapped up the season at 13-14 overall and 4-5 in HCAC action. They landed four on the HCAC All-Conference team in sophomore Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.), junior Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.), Shick, and Robertson.
