Box Score ROANOKE, Va. – A Second half comeback came up short as the Panthers (6-4 overall) fell in non-conference action to unbeaten New York University on Thursday afternoon, 78-60.
Hanover was paced in the contest by sophomore
Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) with a team-high 15 points while teammate junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 13 points.
The first half saw Greenamoyer leading the attack for the Panthers as he hit a three-pointer at the 14:26 mark that saw Hanover halt an early NYU surge, pulling them within 13-11. But the Violet offense hit stride as they pushed the difference to as many as 26-16 when junior
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) responded with a runner in the lane.
However, the NYU shooting continued to heat-up as a 6-0 run pushed them in front 32-18 when a Greenamoyer three-pointer ended the run. Hanover entered the intermission trailing the Violets 42-24.
The Panthers looked to stampede the Violts in the second half using a 13-0 run capped by a junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) scoop and score to cut the deficit to 46-35. They cranked up the defensive pressure using it to fuel the offense as they were able to get as close as 49-43 with 14:10 remaining in the contest.
NYU refused to surrender the advantage as they were able to right the ship claiming the 68-49 lead with just over 9 minutes to play. The comeback would fall short for the Blue and Red as they surrendered the contest to NYU.
Hanover returns to action as part of the Cregger Invitational on Friday, Dec. 30 taking on Methodist at 12:00 PM.
