Box Score BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Hanover (4-2 overall, 1-0 HCAC) men's basketball team hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bluffton, defeating the Beavers 72-50.
Pacing the Panther offense was the duo of junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) and senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.). Houston charted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Greenamoyer added a game-high 17 points.
In a contest that got off to a very slow start junior
Max Greenamoyer looked to spark the offense connecting for a three-pointer at the 15 minute mark giving Hanover the 7-5 advantage. Sophomore
Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.) took over the Panther attack with 10:40 remaining pacing a 9-0 run that helped push the difference to 18-8.
Junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) capitalized on the aggressive Beaver defense late in the frame as he was able to find junior
Ryan Morris (McCordsville, Ind.) on the block before a drive and kick pass to senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) propelled HC into the intermission leading 31-17.
The second half saw the Bluffton offense come alive as they were able to connect from deep pulling within 31-20 when Wininger countered with a Panther three-pointer. Hanover continued to pound the paint pushing their lead to 39-20 after a Houston jumper with 16 minutes remaining.
Bluffton tried to use their defense to fuel their offense but the attempt fell unsuccessful as Hanover remained poise securing the HCAC victory. The Panthers finished with a 34-14 point advantage in the paint.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 when they welcome Defiance to Collier Arena. Tip-off is set for noon.
