HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team opened the 2022 season this afternoon taking on Birmingham-Southern in non-conference action. The Panthers fell in the contest 19-3.
The Blue and Red got goal contributions from three separate athletes. Sophomore
Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) provided the first blow, followed by senior
Anne Breeding (Miamisburg, Ohio) and sophomore
Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.). Senior
Emily Christian (Louisville, Ky.) also turned in a strong afternoon as she wrestled in a team-high eight ground balls.
Birmingham-Southern surged ahead from the opening draw as they netted five first quarter strikes and added a sixth in the second period before Hanover responded. Taylor halted the charge at the 5:35 mark but BSC had other things in mind.
They went on to post a nine goal third quarter and a three strike fourth quarter in rout to the victory.
In frame, senior
Delaney Benner (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up a game-high 16 saves through a complete 60 minutes.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16 when they take on Marian University (Ind.). Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
