Hanover welcomes Birmingham-Southern as part of season opener

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team opened the 2022 season this afternoon taking on Birmingham-Southern in non-conference action. The Panthers fell in the contest 19-3.

The Blue and Red got goal contributions from three separate athletes. Sophomore Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) provided the first blow, followed by senior Anne Breeding (Miamisburg, Ohio) and sophomore Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.). Senior Emily Christian (Louisville, Ky.) also turned in a strong afternoon as she wrestled in a team-high eight ground balls.

Birmingham-Southern surged ahead from the opening draw as they netted five first quarter strikes and added a sixth in the second period before Hanover responded. Taylor halted the charge at the 5:35 mark but BSC had other things in mind.

They went on to post a nine goal third quarter and a three strike fourth quarter in rout to the victory.

In frame, senior Delaney Benner (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up a game-high 16 saves through a complete 60 minutes.
