Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference 2021 Regular Season Champions wrapped up conference play on Friday night defeating Mt. St. Joseph 77-70.
Hanover landed three players in double figures led by junior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) with a team-high 25 points. Senior
Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) added 22 points and sophomore
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 15 points.
In the opening half, Hibbard appeared to have the hot hand as he paced a strong Panther run that propelled them in front 11-0. Hanover continued to pull away as Houston netted a jumper that extended the HC lead to 28-11 midway through the frame.
Hibbard finished the half with 13 points as the Panthers entered the intermission with the convincing 40-29 lead.
The second half would see the Lions come roaring back as they cut the deficit to as little as 50-47 when Greenamoyer sank a pull-up jumper in the lane. However, MSJ refused to go away capturing the slim 59-58 lead moments later. But the excitement didn't last long as Greenamoyer struck again for the Panthers.
Senior
Noah Williams (Jeffersonville, Ind.) provided clutch down the stretch sinking a three-pointer at the 5:13 mark that prompted an MSJ timeout trailing 66-61. Hanover never looked back, hanging on for the HCAC victory.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 20 when they compete as part of the HCAC Tournament as the no. 1 seed.
