Mid game rally propels Hanover to sweep of Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Hanover Panthers used an impressive performance at the plate8321`to sweep Centre in non-conference action on Tuesday evening. Hanover won game one 5-1 before rallying to victory in game two, 9-7.

GAME ONE
Fifth year Lily Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) got the call to the circle pitching a complete game surrendering one run on five hits. The win marks her second of the season.

At the dish, junior Katherine Dickinson (Francisco, Ind.) paced the attack recording a game-high two RBI on two hits.

The Panthers dominated from the opening pitch as junior Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) delivered an RBI double that gave HC the 1-0 advantage in the first inning.

The Panthers tacked on another run in the top of the second inning with sophomore Ava Hilgenhold (Tell City, Ind.) deeming clutch charting an RBI that pushed the difference to 2-0.

The third inning would see the Panthers add an insurance run when freshman Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) collected an RBI on a ripped ball to the shortstop that extended the Hanover lead.

Centre looked to rally in the bottom half of the inning but fell unsuccessful as the Panther defense halted the charge and tacked on two more runs in rout to the 5-1 victory.

GAME TWO
The Panthers precise accuracy at the dish continued with Kruse starting the excitement. The freshman singled to left field scoring both junior Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) and Hutchison, 2-0.

Junior Lexi Garloch (Salem, Ind.) carried the momentum with a single to center field before Hilgenhold plated the innings final run with a sacrifice fly that propelled HC on top 4-0.

However, the Colonels responded in the bottom half of the inning before adding two more runs in the third inning for the strong 7-4 lead.

The Panthers refused to flee as they flipped the script in the top of the fourth inning with sophomore Carson Bennett (Batesville, Ind.) and Hutchison delivering on back-to-back RBI doubles. Kruse handled the rest going yard to tie the contest at 7-7. Freshman Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) wrapped up the five run outburst with a double of her own that sent HC in front 9-7.

The rest was history with freshman Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) picking up the win in the circle surrendering just two runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
