BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Hanover Panthers picked up a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep on Saturday afternoon taking the twinbill with the Beavers of Bluffton 7-3, 20-10.
GAME ONE
The Panthers surged ahead early in game one as RBI from fifth year
Lily (Compton) Beurman 9Evansville, Ind.) and freshman
Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) pushed HC on top 2-0.
However, Bluffton responded adding one run in the bottom half of the inning and two in the third inning flipping the script, 3-2.
The Panthers refused to be tamed as freshman
Mallorie Fultz 9Greenfield, Ind.) deemed clutch in the sixth inning before junior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) drove in the final run of the inning to push HC back in front 6-3.
The final run came off the bat of junior
Lexi Garloch (Salem, Ind.) who propelled HC to the 7-3 victory.
Compton picked up the win in the circle pitching a complete game with 14 strikeouts.
GAME TWO
The Panthers scored early and often as freshman
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) claimed the win in the circle pitching four complete innings with four K's.
Hanover ran past the Beavers in the first inning following a Beamn homerun that pushed HC on top 5-0.
The Blue and Red tacked on two more runs in the third inning before adding two in the fourth inning for the 9-3 lead. Hutchison led the charge connecting for a RBI single to center in the third that opened the scoring stampede.
The seventh inning would see the flood gates burst wide open as Hanover plated nine runs led by sophomore
Ava Hilgenhold (Tell City, Ind.) who doubled to left center sending three runners to the plate in rout to the convincing 20-10 win.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, April 24 when they welcome Transylvania to Kops-Bedel Stadium.
