HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers dropped a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contests to league leading Transylvania on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers took game one 10-4 before capturing game two 4-3.
GAME ONE
The Pioneers made efficient work early using a one run first inning and a four run third inning to surge ahead 5-0.
However, the Panthers would get one run back in the bottom half of the third inning as a Pioneer miscue scored freshman
Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) from third base, 5-1.
The error plague continued to doom costly for Transylvania as junior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) hit a ball to short stop that soared straight through her legs scoring junior
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.), 5-3.
But the Pioneers were able to recompose themselves plating five runs in the sixth inning to blow the game wide open in rout to the 10-4 victory.
GAME TWO
Much like the first game, the Pioneers made fast work scoring a run in the first inning.
But the excitement quickly dwindled as Hutchison caught the Pioneers in a first and second base pickle which ultimately scored Bradley, 1-1.
Hanover continued to pounce adding two runs in the second inning for their first lead of the afternoon, 3-2. Pacing the offensive attack was freshman
Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio) and Bradley with back-to-back RBI.
However, the Pioneers once again got the final say using a homerun in the fifth inning and an RBI in the sixth inning to secure the HCAC sweep.
The Panthers return to action on Monday, April 25 when they travel to Rose-Hulman. First pitch is set for 5:30 PM.
