Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio – Strong first half lifts the Panthers past Mt. St. Joseph in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening as they defeated the Lions 14-9.
Hanover used a balanced attack to surge ahead early as six different Panthers delivered goals in the first half.
Senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) delt the first blow before a Panther assault on net ensued with freshman
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.) and freshman
Owen Parker (O'Fallon, Mo.) both delivering blows, 3-1.
Freshman
Luke Haines (Lexington, Ky.) picked up his first goal just moments into the second quarter when sophomore
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) added the Panthers fifth blow of the half. Freshman
Scott Dues (Louisville, Ky.) tacked on his fifth goal of the season at the 10:46 mark pushing HC ahead 6-2.
Meinhart and Stone added two more second quarter goals to send HC into the intermission with the 9-3 lead.
MSJ looked to rally in the third frame netting five goals to cut the difference to 9-7. Haines halted the charge as Hanover was able to secure the 14-9 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 9 when they welcome Anderson to Alumni Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
