Panthers drop heartbreaker at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio –  The Hanover women's soccer team made the trek north on Saturday afternoon taking on the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern, who recently received votes as part of the top 25 poll. The Blue and Red dropped the heartbreaker 3-2.

Pacing the way for Panthers was the sophomore duo of Nora Ludwig (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Beth Cook (Goshen, Ind.) with one goal apiece. Cook added a team-high two shots on frame.

The opening half saw a scoring frenzy as four separate goals were recorded. After surrendering the opening strike to the Polar Bears, Ludwig answered off a pass from senior Ainsleigh Spaulding (Independence Ky.) for the game tying blow, 1-1.

HC would take the lead at the 37-minute mark as Cook picked up her fourth goal of the season following an assist by teammate junior Cassidy Lett (Walton, Ky.), 2-1.

However, ONU got the final say of the first half as they netted the game tying goal with just 12 minutes remaining in the half.

They netted the game winning strike in the 63-minute securing the competitive 3-2 victory.

Hanover returns to action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they host St. Mary's College. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
