HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover (15-4 overall, 3-0 HCAC) Panthers served up Homecoming weekend with a victory over Manchester in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-23.
Hanover was led in the contest by sophomore
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) with a game-high 12 kills on 21 total attempts. She posted an impressive .524 hitting percentage.
The Panthers pounced in the opening set rattling off seven straight points from the serve of junior
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) capturing the 8-1 advantage. With all the momentum, Hanover extended the difference as sophomore
Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) capped a 7-1 run that saw the Blue and Red claim the 25-11 win.
In set two, Manchester battled early before a 5-0 outburst sent HC out front 8-4. The Spartans stormed back knotting the game at 11-11 when senior
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) connected for a kill. The rest was history with Hanover reigning victorious.
The final set showed how dominant the Panthers were as they again used a series of runs to push the lead to 21-15. However, Manchester cut the difference to as little as 24-23 when freshman
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) secured the straight set win.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when they take on nationally ranked Transylvania. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
