BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Hanover Panthers (16-5 overall, 4-1 HCAC) claimed their 11
th straight set victory of the season on Friday night, defeating the Beavers of Bluffton (25-15, 25-13, 25-22).
Leading the way for Hanover was sophomore
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and freshman
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) with double-digit kills.
The opening set would see the Blue and Red get off to a quick start as they rattled off the first eight points. The momentum continued to swing in their favor as the duo of Mays and McCoy pushed HC out front 21-14. Sophomore
CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) secured the set one win with a kill off an assist by junior
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.).
Much like the first set, set two saw Hanover surge ahead 4-0. They continued on the attack as senior
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) recorded a kill that extended the difference to 13-5 before a 5-0 run more than sealed the win, 25-13.
The last set would see Hanover use a series of runs claiming the 11-5 lead. However, Bluffton battled knotting the score at 19-19 following a three point swing. But the Panthers remained poise capitalizing on a pair of Bluffton mistakes for the straight set win.
